The Foreign Trade Service (FTS) was established in the Port of New York in 1945 as an independent sampling, inspection, weighing and cargo supervision service. With the advent of containerized cargo, FTS expanded its service to every major port of entry into the USA. What FTS began as a quality control and grading laboratory for importers of dried fruits and nuts has expanded into a full range of analytical services for all types of imported foods.
The staff of FTS includes a team of food scientists,
analytical chemists, microbiologists, stored product entomologists
and expert investigators. FTS and our network of associated laboratories
provide testing services that include food microbiology, analytical
chemistry, sensory evaluation, grading, inspections for foreign
matter and filth testing. Our staff includes a network of retired
law enforcement officers. These highly skilled investigators are
experts in forensic sampling and FDA detentions. |
